At the end of the 50s, sales figures began to decline for Harley-Davidson. There was a lack of models in the mid-segment. Therefore, they were looking for a partner and settled on Aeronautica Macchi in Italy, which in addition to airplanes also produced smaller motorcycles up to 250 cc. HD bought half of the motorcycle division and soon they also had a range of middleweights. Aermacchi was also big in racing, which HD also followed, but HD's racing activities were discontinued in 1973.
A few years later, Ingvar Johansson (the Honda importer in Sweden) bought the entire HD racing team's inventory and machinery. Several original racers ended up in Sweden, including this 250 cc racer. This is a production racer that has belonged to HD's factory team as a spare machine. The machine is equipped with 30 mm Delorto downdraught carburetor, magnet ignition, dry clutch, Ceriani shock absorber, Ceriani drum brakes with magnesium alloy 230 mm fourshoes front and 200 mm twoshoes at the rear.

Condition: As a spare machine, this has not been raced so much. The frame and engine have matching numbers. The machine starts and runs as it should, but the machine has been in a museum for a long time and needs a review before it is put into use. The bottom part of the fairing has been replaced, as well as the footpegs, otherwise this is a genuine racer in very nicely patinated original racing condition. 2 pit supports and extra silencers included.
